National Honor Society

Membership in the Franciscan Chapter of the National Honor Society is based on scholarship, leadership, service and character. The Society strives to recognize the total student; one who excels in all these areas - no student is accepted simply because of a high academic average.

To be considered for membership, juniors and seniors must:

Students who are eligible scholastically are notified by the chapter advisor. For further consideration in the areas of leadership, character and service, each student must complete a Student Application Form drawn up by the National Honor Society and adapted to the needs of the chapter.

Selection of students for membership is the responsibility of the Faculty Council. The Faculty Council consists of faculty members appointed annually by the Principal. The Student Application Forms are reviewed by the Faculty Council, along with any other verifiable information about each candidate. Students receiving a majority of votes are inducted into the Society at a formal ceremony in November.

Accepted members are required to continue the above mentioned activities and services, to maintain the minimum of 90% current and cumulative averages, and to live up to the promises and ideals made in their Induction Pledge. Adherence to SFP's Honor Code and school regulations is expected of all NHS members and applicants. Serious infractions will be dealt with accordingly.
