Please read carefully the course descriptions below.
Ask your present teacher which one describes your present Math Course of study. Then proceed to enter the number in the field below.
As a ninth grader (***) here at Prep, you could be placed in one of 4 math classes.

  1. a) Algebra 1: You are presently studying Regular 8th grade Mathematics.
    b) *Algebra 1 Honors: You are presently studying regular 8th grade mathematics.
  2. **Geometry You are presently studying Integrated Algebra and will successfully complete this course and will take the Algebra Placement Exam at Saint Francis Prep on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 8:30am.
  3. Algebra 2: You have completed semester 3 of Math A (took and passed the Math A regents in January of 2008) and you are presently studying Semester 1 of Math B. The entire first semester of Math B will be completed and a passing average will be achieved in June of 2008.
  4. If you take the Math A Regents, you must forward the copy of the grade you achieved on the Math A Regents to:
    Brother Lawrence Boyle, Registrar for your permanent records at the school.

*You must have your present math teacher fill out the honors form that will be sent to you in the next mailing from St. Francis Preparatory.
** All students who wish to be advanced 1 year in high school mathematics must take the Math Placement test here at St. Francis, on May 31, 2008 at 8:30a.m.

*** All ninth graders will be given a test on the basics of arithmetic, without the aid of a calculator, during the first week of school in September of 2008. Take time during the summer to rememorize the times tables 2 through 12. Practice the addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, fractions, decimals and integers.
