Prep Poetry

By Prep's Poets

Far Away

Darkness fills the streets
with midnight stars and satellites.
You softly place your hand in mine,
"Let's defy gravity tonight."

With one whisper,
we float through November winds.
We linger among the fluff of clouds
and search the sky for constellations.

We align with Saturn
and watch meteors streak the sky.
We melt in the sun
and drip back down to Earth in drops.

Moment In Waiting

There will come that day
When in passing,
Our eyes will meet again.
Two familiar strangers.

How have you been?
It’s been a while.
Words fumble
To bridge the gap
Of reality.

You stare at your shoelaces
And I at the stitching on my coat.
Glancing at your wrist,
Your watch says it's time to leave.

A quick smile,
And then you turn your back
And vanish.

A single tear
Soaks my stitches.

Two Thousand

The headline tells us what we have heard

Two thousand times before

And all we are left to ask over again is

What are we fighting for?

People are slowly losing faith and

Withdrawing their support

But our young are still sacrificed like lamb

Many lives are cut so short

How many hearts have to be ripped apart

Until we realize what we’ve done?

How many tears have to drop

Until we realize no one’s won?

When do we look back

And see the error of our ways?

Still, we’re left to swallow the pain

And continue to hope and pray

Written In The Stars

If time was just a theory
Our love would never end
Your words could go on forever
And heartbreaks it would mend
If life was a dream
And fantasies were real
Then all our senses could awake
Hearing, Seeing, Feeling...
No mornings to disrupt the dreams
No nightmares to cause its demise
Our love could go on forever
It would never, ever die
If only everything would stay in place
If only it'd stay the same
Then our love could be found in the stars
Constellations to be made...

Give Me Strength

This isn't how it's supposed to be
I'm supposed to be young, happy, and free
Am I caught up in the fairy tale ideal?
A mirage that I was fooled into believing was real
What's really good with my surroundings?
Is this pain what's necessary to keep me grounded?
If so, then Lord, give me strength to get through this plight
'Cause I don't know if I'm going to make it through the night

She Came To Me In A Dream

She came to me in a dream
I could not say a word
She looked at me
and I at her
Getting closer and closer
I embraced her
Time pushed us
further and further we went
Like a mirage
she vanished
I never found
someone quite like her
She was special
she was the one
