Brother Robert Kent, O.S.F., one of Prep’s math teachers, has been with Prep for over 40 years. Not only is he part of the math department, but he is also the Alumni Director and the Varsity baseball coach at St. Francis Prep. As coach, he has won four City Championships and has sent many players on to play college ball. At a recent honorary dinner held at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan, he was inducted into the prominent McGuire Foundation Hall of Fame. This esteemed award is named after Frank McGuire, a well-known coach in the tri-state area. It is awarded to exceptional coaches who instill in their athletes both a thirst for excellence and a desire to excel in various areas, not just baseball.
Brother Robert has coached many student-athletes during his time at Prep, including Mr. Williams of the English Department when he was in high school. They have been working together for the past 14 years, coaching the baseball team. Mr. Williams, who attended the ceremony, said, “The night was an appropriate celebration of Brother Rob’s success both in the classroom and on the fields. His dedication to Prep is second to none.”
