CONGRATULATIONS !
Two senior members of the Science Research Program are semi-finalists in the INTEL SCIENCE TALENT SEARCH.
Michelle Bubnik and Marlena Laszkowska are among 300 students who have been selected from 1600 students nationwide. St. Francis prep has the distinction of being one of only 4 Catholic schools in New York State to have semifinalists. Additionally, we had the most semifinalists of any school in Queens and we are the only Catholic high school in the nation with multiple semi-finalists. Michelle and Marlena have both been awarded $1,000 and will now compete for $100,000 in scholarship money in the next phase of the competition. The finalist announcement will take place on January 28th.
Congratulations to all of their science teachers, especially to Ms. Spicijaric, Mr. Cervino, and Miss Parziale who have worked with these students in the Science Research Program.

"Brother Ralph Clifford Way"
COMMUNITY BOARD 8 OK’S A BID TO RENAME A SECTION OF FRANCIS LEWIS BOULEVARD
A proposal to name a portion of Francis Lewis Boulevard after Brother Ralph Clifford, the treasurer of St. Francis Prep who died a year ago after befriending generations of students, was unanimously approved by the Board last week.
Anthony Amorese, a senior, initiated the process by calling Councilman David Weprin . He followed up by writing a letter to Community Board 8, and attached photographs and articles about Brother Ralph.
If the street renaming proposal is approved by the mayor, the portion of Francis
Lewis Blvd between Horace Harding Expressway and 73rd Avenue will be named “BROTHER
RALPH CLIFFORD WAY”.
After the Board’s approval of the street renaming last week, the next step is for Weprin to draft legislation about the installation of a blue “BROTHER RALPH CLIFFORD WAY” STREET SIGN. The legislation must be signed by the mayor.
