THE CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK – APPROVAL OF A SPECIAL COVID-19 TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF STANDARDIZED TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION:
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency and to enable prospective students to effectively plan, CUNY will temporarily suspend the use of standardized admissions testing (e.g., SAT/ACT) in evaluating students for admissions into undergraduate programs. This temporary special policy is in effect for the spring 2021, fall 2021, and Spring 2022 admission cycles only and is consistent with similar policies enacted by colleges and Universities across the State and our Nation. Additional information about the admissions process will be forthcoming.
The CUNY Application
The CUNY Application is now available for Fall 2020. Students who are interested in applying may choose up to 6 colleges using either the Freshman or Macaulay Honors Application.

Five of our colleges have joined the Common Application: Baruch College, Brooklyn College, College of Staten Island, Hunter College

CUNY Application Status Report
- Please allow 4-6 weeks for the status of an application to change after a document has been sent to CUNY.
- Students who applied early should expect to receive an admission decision from each college to which they have applied beginning February 15th.
- Applicants to the Macaulay Honors College will be notified of their admission decision on March 15th.

CUNY Updates
SAT and ACT Test Suspension for Spring 2021, Fall 2021 and Spring 2022
CUNY is implementing a temporary test-blind policy for all undergraduate programs. During this time, students who apply to CUNY will not be required to submit their SAT or ACT scores, nor will they consider them if received.
The Common App
CUNY has chosen to suspend our membership on the Common App for the upcoming cycle, meaning that seniors interested in applying to the university will use the CUNY Application to apply for Fall 2021 admission.
